As you know, following the Rabbi’s retirement next summer (2018), Kolot will first engage an Interim Rabbi for a term of one year to help us make the transition from the only rabbi we’ve known to new leadership and new possibilities. We are very pleased to announce that the Job Posting for the Interim Rabbi has been finalized, is now being advertised and is available on the Kolot website here.
As you know, the Kolot Board, Transition Team and Rabbinic Search Committee have been preparing for the rabbinic transition for quite some time. Collectively, we have engaged in conversations and meetings with leaders of Jewish denominational movements, rabbis who have served as Interims, those who study the field of interim rabbis, and search committees from other congregations to learn as much as we can about Interim Rabbis and rabbinic transitions. Throughout, we have gathered with Kolot members in town hall meetings and the annual congregational meeting and shared updates with the Kolot community to ensure Kolot can be as intentional as possible and ensure a successful transition. The whole process has been filled with learning and anticipation, sadness at soon saying goodbye to Rabbi Lippmann and lots of ideas, energy and hope about the future.
The Interim Rabbi Job Posting is being circulated by the Reform, Reconstructionist, and Renewal movements, as well as several seminaries and job listings that reach rabbis around the world. We encourage you to also help us spread the word by sharing news of the posting with colleagues, friends and family, and others who may be interested. Here again is the link. A Frequently Asked Questions sheet is also available on the Kolot website here, and complete information about the Rabbinic Transition is on the Kolot website here.
As the Interim Rabbi posting circulates, the Rabbinic Search Committee will continue our work finalizing an insightful, engaging and fair interviewing process. We will be screening candidates on a rolling basis, interviewing in the Fall and making our recommendation to the Board early in 2018.
We will continue to keep you posted and as always, we welcome your feedback, and questions. Our team can be reached at email@example.com, or find us directly in Brooklyn.
We are honored, excited and full of hope in sharing this announcement and managing this crucial and bittersweet process for Kolot, and look forward to sharing more updates in the months ahead.
